Stephen Joseph Litcher, 96, Vero Beach

Stephen Joseph Litcher, 96, died May 22, 2013, at home.

He was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., and lived in Vero Beach for 26 years, coming from Oakland, N.J.

He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the Army 106th Division, and was a prisoner of war, captured at The Battle of The Bulge.

Before retirement, he was a self-employed contractor, specializing in residential construction.

He was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Vero Beach.

He was a member of the American Legion and the Holy Name Society.

Survivors include his daughter, Marianne Litcher, of Vero Beach; son, Stephen Gregory Litcher, of Buffalo Grove, Ill.; and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Margaret Litcher.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Vero Beach and Indian River County, P.O. Box 644, Vero Beach, FL 32961.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. June 4 at Holy Cross Catholic Church.

Interment will follow in Crestlawn Cemetery in Vero Beach.
