VERO BEACH — Childcare Resources of Indian River was awarded a grant from Grand Harbor Community Outreach in the amount of $7,000. The support will provide high quality, early childhood education for Childcare Resources Education Center.
The high quality, early childhood education provided by Childcare Resources’ program enables at-risk children of economically disadvantaged families to be much more likely to have the skills they need when they go to kindergarten.
Dependable care enables parents to be responsible employees who are more likely to remain employed and to further their careers. Affordable care enables these families to pay for other essentials (food, housing expenses, transportation, etc.) to best provide for their children.
Children succeed when the family is strong and involved in their education. Childcare Resources’ support, guidance, and access to other needed services can make the difference between stability and crisis in a family’s life.
“Support from Grand Harbor Community Outreach will help ensure young children are cared for and educated by well-trained, caring teachers in a safe, stimulating environment. We are so pleased to have the support from Grand Harbor Community Outreach,” said Executive Director Shannon McGuire Bowman.
About Childcare Resources
Childcare Resources, a United Way and Indian River County Children’s Services partner agency, provides children of income eligible working families with affordable, high quality, early childhood education. The organization assists working parents with childcare tuition to enroll their children at local, accredited childcare centers and in the Education Center.
Childcare Resources also provides a wide variety of parent education and family support programs as well as professional development opportunities for early educators.
The Childcare Resources Education Center is the culmination of a long recognized need in Indian River County for more quality, affordable infant and toddler care for working families. It is located on the campus of Trinity Episcopal Church in Vero Beach and is open Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
The organization is also the proud recipient of a 2010 Indian River Impact 100 award in support of the Education Center Infant Suite.

About Grand Harbor Community Outreach
The Grand Harbor Community Outreach Program began just over a decade ago and has now grown to be a significant philanthropic force in Indian River County, raising and distributing over $2 million since its inception.
This season, 27 local service organizations will receive funding. More than 350 Grand Harbor families and various business sponsors contribute to Community Outreach along with more than one hundred members who volunteer their time.
Many Grand Harbor members also volunteer at some of the individual agencies supported by Outreach.
The Community Outreach Program has no paid staff or administrative costs. It is a member-driven, all volunteer organization. This is one reason that Community Outreach has grown so quickly.
The Grand Harbor residents and members see it as a wise investment in the Vero Beach community in which they now live.
