Sebastian Earth/Arbor Day Festival on April 20

SEBASTIAN — Sebastian’s Earth Day Festival and Arbor Day observance will be held Saturday, April 20, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Riverview Park, located at the corner of US 1 and County Road 512 in Sebastian.

This annual event provides an opportunity for people to mingle with earth-friendly organizations and learn about various ways to protect our planet and enjoy our natural resources.

Some of the activities will include: The Youth Sailing Foundation, environmental exhibits, conservation tips, wildlife exhibits, gardening advice, activities for children, food and beverages, live music, along with free door prizes.

Festival goers will be voting on contests for the most creative birdhouse and original item made out of recycled materials, as well as a wildlife photography contest (ages adult and children under 13.)

This wonderful event is open to the public.

The Kids Hooked on Fishing Program will be there to teach fishing techniques, conservation, and fishing safety. It is sponsored by Anglers for Conservation.

For youth ages 6 to 16 and their parents, this clinic starts at 8 a.m. at the docks east of the park.

Registration is required and can be done by calling Sebastian’s Parks & Recreation Dept. at (772) 228-7054.

The first 80 registered kids get a free rod and reel.

This free family event with free parking will be professionally hosted by on air personality Mike Burke and sponsored by the City of Sebastian’s Natural Resources Board. Check in at their booth to receive your free raffle tickets for door prizes.
