VERO BEACH — Hibiscus Children’s Center is pleased to announce, in partnership with Satya Media Group, the premiere of “Until They Turn 18,” a documentary feature film, on Tuesday, April 16, at 6 p.m. at the Majestic 11 Theatre in Vero Beach.
Tickets are $50.
Don’t miss this important film that endeavors to shed light on existing problems and the need to remedy them. Hope prevails when the appropriate help is administered.
Special light is shed on the work of Hibiscus Children’s Center. The focused attention and targeted programming administered by this organization provides foster teens existing on the fringe, specifically those 16-18 years old, with an opportunity to succeed.
This documentary film explores the emotions of aging out foster children. Remember, if a child is in foster care, they are a part of the existing system. Until They Turn 18 demonstrates that foster children need all of our support to overcome the many challenges they have faced to achieve success in the future.
Mary Lee Weir, a Vero Beach resident, is a film producer and owner of Satya Media Group.
“This project has provided me with important insight into a growing population of youth who want and need opportunities, such as what is being provided by the Hibiscus Children’s Center’s Career Pathways to Independence Program. I feel blessed to have had the opportunity to learn about this very caring organization,” explained Weir.
The mission of Hibiscus Children’s Center is to provide safety for abused, abandoned, and neglected children through prevention, residential, shelter and recovery programs.
One way our critical mission is emphasized is through the successful Hibiscus Children’s Center Career Pathways to Independence Program. This multi-faceted program assists young adults in transitioning to independent living.
“Thank you to the many men and women who made me feel like I was a human being,” stated one of the former Hibiscus residents.
Our goal through sharing this film and the services provided on a daily basis by Hibiscus is to ensure children in our care are prepared and equipped for adulthood when they “age out.”
Just as important, we want to do all that we can to ensure that they carry the memories of being loved, nurtured, respected, and protected.
