Michael A. Trax, 72, died March 17, 2013, at home.
He was born in Pittsburgh, Pa., and lived in Vero Beach, coming from Stuart.
He was an eight-year veteran of the Navy and flight crew member of VP-6 stationed at Barber’s Point Naval Air Station, Oahu, Hawaii.
Before retirement, he was a certified aircraft welder for 25 years with Grumman in Stuart.
He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Stuart for 28 years and attended St. John of the Cross Catholic Church in Vero Beach.
He was a member of AOPA, EAA, and had been active with the Boy Scouts of America.
Survivors include his wife of 43 years, the Rev. Carol A. (Haas) Trax, of Vero Beach; sons, Christopher Michael Trax, of Orlando and Eric Edmund Trax, of Vero Beach; daughter, Susan Melissa Kruger, of Altamonte Springs; brothers, George Joseph Trax, of Kernersville, N.C., and Mark Francis Trax, of Waverly, Iowa; and five grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Treasure Coast Diving Club, 4221 Sixth Lane S.W., Vero Beach, FL 32968.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. March 22 at the Forest Hills Funeral Homes Palm City Chapel.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. March 23 at St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Interment will be private in Forest Hills Memorial Park in Palm City with military honors provided by the Navy.
