Motor car exhibition celebrates 60th anniversary of Corvette

VERO BEACH — On Saturday, Feb. 9, McKee Botanical Garden will spotlight the milestone anniversary of America’’s sports car, the Chevy Corvette.

McKee’’s Fourth Annual Motor Car Exhibition: Celebrating 60 Years of the Corvette will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Admission for the event will be just $5.

The juried show will represent the evolution of this iconic vehicle over the past six decades and features 40 of the finest and most rare Corvettes from around the state including coupes, convertibles, Grand Sports, Roadsters, Stingrays, and others.

Among those appearing in the show will be the first model Corvette, a four time NCRS Top Flight Winner that has been featured in most auto magazines, as well as a 1963 Grand Sport replica that was displayed for six months at the National Corvette Museum.

The show also will include a number of limited edition and award-winning Corvettes.

For the second year, the cars will be displayed within the Garden itself so visitors will be able to enjoy a walking tour of McKee as well as view the Corvettes for the reduced admission price.

They also will get to view Fräbel REIMAGINED, a new collection of more than 200 glass sculptures by acclaimed flameworking artist Hans Godo Fräbel. Fräbel REIMAGINED is on exhibition now through April 30 at McKee.

““We are pleased to designate such a beloved symbol of American culture as the theme of this year’’s motor car exhibition,”” stated McKee Botanical Garden Executive Director Christine Hobart.

““The Corvette is a true classic; we look forward to commemorating its anniversary and welcoming this dedicated group of automobile enthusiasts to McKee,” Hobart added.
