National Symphony Orchestra of Cuba at Sunrise Theatre Nov. 8

FORT PIERCE — The Sunrise Theatre For The Performing Arts, located in Historic Downtown Fort Pierce, will present the National Symphony Orchestra of Cuba on Thursday, November 8, at 7 p.m.

“The National Symphony Orchestra of Cuba is doing its very first tour of the United States,” said Executive Director John D. Wilkes. “We are thrilled that the Sunrise Theatre is part of this rare, whirlwind tour.”

Since its inception in 1960, the National Symphony Orchestra of Cuba-Havana Symphony has been instrumental in developing and introducing Cuban and Latin American music to the international classical music community, in addition to covering a vast symphonic and chamber repertoire ranging from baroque to contemporary music.

International tours have taken the orchestra to Russia, Poland, Yugoslavia, Mexico, Nicaragua, Spain, Peru, and Argentina.

The orchestra is known to international audiences for its vast symphonic repertoire both classical and contemporary.

Enjoy this musical evening featuring: Gershwin’s Cuban Overture; Mendelssohn’s Symphony #4 in A Major, OP. 90; Lecuona’s La Camparsa; Beethoven’s Symphony #5 in C Minor, OP. 67; and other outstanding works.

For the show at the Sunrise Theatre, Enrique Pérez Mesa is the Music Director and Guido López-Gavilán the Guest Conductor.
