Roy Junior Harris, 63, Vero Beach

Roy Junior Harris, 63, died Oct. 28, 2012, at his home.

He was born in Columbus, Ga., and moved to Indian River County with his family at age 6.

He was employed as a school bus driver for the Indian River County School District.

He also was employed at Piper Aircraft for more than 20 years, retiring in 1989.

He served in the Marine Corps during the Vietnam War.

He served in the Army National Guard for 20 years, retiring in 1995 at the rank of sergeant.

He was a member of the Spruce Park Masonic Lodge 676, American Legion Post 181 and the Gifford Tigers Motorcycle Club. He was educated in the schools of Indian River County.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy M. Harris of Vero Beach; daughters, Rochanda Harris of Orlando and Karen E. McDew and Kimberly A. Jackson, both of Vero Beach; sons, Willie L. McDew of Fort Pierce and Brian O. McDew of Indiantown; sister, Dolly Mae Harris of Vero Beach; brothers, Roy B. Harris of Fort Lauderdale and Johnny Harris of Vero Beach; 16 grandchildren; and a host of great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy V. Harris and Annie Mae Gunder Harris.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Nov. 2 at New Mount Sinai Missionary Baptist Church, Gifford.

A celebration of life will be at 11 a.m. Nov. 3 at the church with the Rev. Arthur Sanders officiating.

Burial will follow in Gifford Cemetery.
