St. Edward’s vs. Jensen Beach swimming

VERO BEACH — St. Edward’s varsity swim team prevailed in 19 of 22 events against Jensen Beach High in a dual meet at home Thursday afternoon.

The girls swept all 11 races on their side of the card for a 103-67 advantage.

200 Yard Medley Relay: Claudia Seckinger, Gabby Allen, Kim Bucaccio, Olivia Blakeman – 2:12.53

200 Yard Freestyle: Seckinger – 2:23.56

200 Yard Individual Medley: Valerie Burke – 2:49.34

50 Yard Freestyle: Blakeman – 27.00

100 Yard Butterfly: Bucaccio – 1:13.47

100 Yard Freestyle: Blakeman – 1:03.62

500 Yard Freestyle: Bucaccio – 6:16.88

200 Yard Freestyle Relay: Seckinger, Burke, M. Stiles, Blakeman – 1:57.70

100 Yard Backstroke: Seckinger – 1:15.44

100 Yard Breaststroke: Allen – 1:24.53

400 Yard Freestyle Relay: Bucaccio, Stiles, Burke, Allen – 4:47.01

The boys prevailed in eight of eleven races by a composite score of 99-72.

Spencer Greaves continued to impress. He set a new school record* in the 100 yard breaststroke, besting the previous mark he tied in the first varsity meet of the season. The talented seventh grader also won the 200 IM and was part of the victorious 200 medley and 400 freestyle relay teams.

The Pirates win over Jensen Beach evened their overall team record at 3-3. Their next competitive event is a three team meet with Sebastian River High and Vero Beach High Oct. 2 at North County Pool.
