Pre-game barbecue on Aug. 30 to benefit local scholars

VERO BEACH — Vero Beach High School Citrus Bowl will once again be the venue for the Dollars for Scholars Football Classic, scheduled for Friday, August 30.

Please join us as the Sebastian River Sharks and the Vero Beach Fighting Indians face off in this year’s much awaited season opener.

These games are attended by more than 4,400 enthusiastic fans and enjoyed under a night sky watching Vero’s two great teams vie for the trophy.

This event raises more than $15,000 each year to benefit Indian River County college-bound students. This past May, Dollars for Scholars awarded 88 scholarships to 58 students for a total of $471,000.

Once again, Dollars for Scholars will host a pre-game BBQ dinner from 5:30-7 p.m. catered by Bono’s. Game kickoff will be at 7 p.m.

Tickets are $50 and include game admission, pre-game dinner, and post-game dessert celebration in our end-zone VIP tent.

This is a perfect way for friends and families to tailgate before the big game and watch the festivities in style.

Last year’s event was sold out, so please reserve your ticket early.

For reservations, please contact the Dollars for Scholars office by phone at (772) 569-9869 or email to Info@DFSIndianRiver.org for more information.

Since 1965, Dollars for Scholars has awarded more than $8.1 million in need-based college scholarships to 2,599 Indian River County students. All of our support results from the generosity of local individuals, businesses, and foundations.
