INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — Last month Patricia Moody, along with her parents, had the honor of attending the National Down Syndrome Congress Convention in Washington, DC.
They met with Congressman Bill Posey, who is a co-sponsor of the ABLE Act. The ABLE Act helps families do long-term financial planning for their child with a disability by setting aside money for education, transportation, housing, employment support, health and wellness, assistive technology, personal care assistance, and other important supports for independence and success, tax-free without loss of benefits.
The Moodys thanked Congressman Posey for his support of persons with developmental disabilities.
Patricia Moody is well known in the community as an advocate for persons with developmental disabilities, attending many fundraisers, signing and singing at special occasions, and helping other organizations in any way she can.
She currently sits on the SunUp ARC Board of Directors and recently has formed the Advocacy Committee. In March, the Advocacy Committee will be going to Tallahassee to meet with the State Senators to advocate for all persons with developmental disabilities.
“Patricia not only takes her position of advocate seriously locally, but also applies the same seriousness and dedication to the national level,” said Chuck Bradley, Executive Director of SunUp ARC.
