July 24 “Christmas in July” benefits Harvest Food

VERO BEACH — It wouldn’t be July in Vero Beach without a “Christmas in July” shopping event.

Tuesday, July 24, is the big day from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Dixie Colonial Plaza, 953 Old Dixie Hwy. in Vero Beach. Event host Lori Young of Sweet Creations and her assistant Marie Capito have rounded up vendors for shopping fun, food, entertainment, prizes, and even a summertime Santa Claus with all proceeds going to benefit the work of Harvest Food & Outreach Center.

“I really appreciate the impact that Harvest Food has on our community, and I just wanted to come up with a fun event to help raise money for the cause,” said Mrs. Young, when asked why she decided to do the event.

Food will be available from Mrs. Mac’s Fillin’ Station and the Saussie Pig, and DJ “Mr. Lee” will provide entertainment with special performances by Vero Cheer and Dance.

A summertime Santa will bring some ho-ho-hos and be available for photos provided by photographer Arthur Quinton, and a Santa’s sack full of raffle prizes have been donated by local restaurants and businesses.

Of course it wouldn’t be a Christmas event without shopping. Vendors showcasing their goodies include Sweet Creations, Weddings by Marie Nicole, DuBose and Sons Jewelers, consultants from Pampered Chef, Tupperware, Thirty-One, Mary Kay, Miche Bags, The Petrillo Collection with classic, casual and chic jewelry, Wolfcat Travel cruise planners, Mary’s Health Hut, Harvest Thrift Center, and even an author with books.

If you get a little fatigued from all the shopping, Michael Gifford from Therapeutic Massages will be available to offer stress-buster chair massages.

With two campuses in Vero Beach, Harvest Food & Outreach Center serves over 350 families a day, helping them break free from the cycle of poverty by offering hunger relief, crisis care, transformative education, and employment training opportunities.
