Property Appraiser

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — The Property Appraiser is responsible for estimating the market value of all property within Indian River County and issuing property tax bills for the property based on the tax rates set by the various taxing districts, which includes nearly 89,000 parcels of land.

The tax bill is based on a property’s assessed value, less exemptions, and multiplied by the

millage rates of all taxing districts in which the property is located.

The four-year position is currently held by David Nolte, who is seeking re-election. He faces one challenger, Thomas Dehn.

The Property Appraiser’s annual salary is nearly $117,000, and the fiscal year 2011-12 budget was about $2.8 million.
