Youth Guidance Heli-Drop Ball Bash & BBQ Fundraiser rescheduled for April 21

VERO BEACH — Indian River County’s most anticipated new fundraiser, the Youth Guidance Heli-Drop Ball Bash & BBQ, where $10,000 in cash prizes will be given away, has a new date. The event will now be held Saturday, April 21, 4:30 to 10 p.m. at the Vero Beach Sports Village, 3901 26th St. in Vero Beach.

The excitement begins with a friendly kickball game between city & county officials, followed by the dramatic dropping of 750 numbered golf balls from a helicopter onto the field.  The golf ball closest to the target wins $5,000. Second closest wins $2,500, third closest wins $1,000 and the fourth, fifth and sixth closest wins $500 each. (Prizes based on the sale of 750 golf ball tickets.)

Tasty Bono’s BBQ and live music from our local boys, Crooked Creek, add to the evening’s activities. Golf balls are being sold for $100 each or two for $150. Each ball purchased includes one admission to the event and a chance to win cash prizes.

General admission tickets are also being sold for $25 and include admission to the event without a chance to win cash prizes.

Individuals can help Youth Guidance reach their goal of selling 750 golf balls for this much talked about fundraiser by becoming a chopper champ. Every chopper champ will be given 10 Heli-Drop golf ball tickets to sell.

Interested persons can call the Youth Guidance office at (772) 770-5040 to let them know they want to sell tickets, and Youth Guidance will mail them 10 tickets. For every 5 golf ball tickets supporters sell, they will receive a complimentary general admission ticket (a $25 value) to the Heli-Drop Ball Bash & BBQ.

Youth Guidance has had tremendous backing from the community and wants to thank the following for volunteering their time and donating their goods and services: the city and county employees, Paris Air, Treasure and Space Coast Radio, Sebastian and Treasure Coast Exchange Clubs, The Rosato Plastic Surgery Center, Debbie and Greg Schlitt, Crooked Creek, Vero Beach Sports Village, Carter Associates, Inc. and the Inside Track Almanac.

The mission of Youth Guidance is to match each of its nearly 700 at-risk K-12 grade children with a volunteer mentor 21 years or older and keep youth engaged in positive educational, cultural and recreational year-round activities.

The agency is actively seeking volunteers to serve as mentors, tutors, or periodic volunteers at ongoing activities for the unmatched children in the program, or to provide regular help in the office.

Youth Guidance is also looking for partnerships with businesses, service clubs and church groups to pair with their unmatched children for just one activity a year.

Persons interested in sponsoring and/or attending the Heli-Drop Ball Bash & BBQ or becoming a mentor may visit www.IRCYouth.com or call (772) 770-5040 for more information.
