John R. Zebryk, Sebastian

John R. Zebryk died March 21, 2012, at his home.

He was born in South Hadley, Mass., coming to Sebastian in 2008 from Agawam, Mass.

He graduated from Williams College, where he received All New England and Little All American football honors, with a degree in economics.

He was a Korean War veteran, serving with the Army Corps of Engineers in Germany.

He retired in 1993 after 35 years working various managerial positions in all divisions of Package Machinery Co.

One of the first 200 in the U.S. to receive professional accreditation as Certified Administrative Manager, he is a past director of the West Mass. International Trade Assoc.; past chair of the International Division of the Society of Plastic Industry; and served on the U.S. Dept. of Commerce Industry Sector Advisory Committee.

He was a vice president of the Agawam Historical Assoc., a president of Beekman’s Condominium Board of Managers and served at Agawam’s Veterans Memorial Cemetery.

He was a Eucharistic minister and team-taught fifth grade CCD at St. John the Evangelist.

Survivors include his wife of 28 years, Sasha Zebryk; sons, Jay Zebryk of Southbridge, Mass., and Tad Zebryk of Fairhope, Ala.; and three grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the VNA/Hospice Foundation, 1110 35th St., Vero Beach, FL 32960.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. March 29 at Seawinds Funeral Home in Sebastian.

Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. March 30 at St. Sebastian Church in Sebastian.
