East Meet West at Gallery 14 with works by Chinese artist Kim Xu

VERO BEACH — Gallery 14, Ocean Drive Jewelers, Blondies on Ocean, and Cooper & Co., will present East Meets West a multi-event celebration of the work of renowned Chinese Artist Kim Xu, with a Fashion Show and Live Charity Auction to take place at the Costa d’Este Beach Resort, beginning at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 8.

Known for his art nouveau style images of women and fashion, he has created paintings based on dresses and jewelry donated by the three local businesses. His paintings will be on display for sale from February 1 to 25 in an exhibit at Gallery 14 titled Art Meets Fashion.

Also, on display will be the work of photographer Gary Collins, a friend of Xu’s, who lived in China. Collins’exhibit is titled Take My Hand- A Photographic Journey. A reception for the public will be held on Friday Feb. 3 from 5 to 8 p.m. in conjunction with the Downtown Gallery Stroll.

The wine, champagne and light hors d’oeuvres fundraising reception on Wednesday Feb. 8 at Costa d’Este Beach Resort will feature a Fashion Show and Live Charity Auction. Several of the fasions which inspired Xu’s paintings will be presented and auctioned for local charities.

Charities included are the Homeless Family Center, the March of Dimes, and the American Cancer Society/Indian River Breast Cancer Foundation.

Tickets to the fundraiser, by reservation and advanced sale only, are $50 per person.
