Ralph Turner, 79, Vero Beach

Ralph Turner, 79, died Jan. 16, 2012, at the Indian River Medical Center.

He was born in Elyria, Ohio, and lived in Vero Beach since 1984, coming from Plantation.

He served in the Air Force during the Korean War, and was stationed in Guam.

Prior to retirement, he worked as an air traffic controller at the Cleveland Center, Oberlin, Ohio, and the Miami Center.

He was a member of the American Legion Post 39, the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, and the Air Traffic Controllers Association.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Mary; sons, Greg Turner, of Lake Wales and Gary Turner, of Vero Beach; daughters, Sharon Turner and Kim Sims, both of Vero Beach, Cindy Aprandini, of Cocoa and Eileen Gill, of New Port Richey; sister, Karen James, of Sheffield Lake, Ohio; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Richard, Thomas and Harry Turner.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. with a service at 7 p.m. Jan. 20 at Cox-Gifford-Seawinds Funeral Home and Crematory.

Pastor Doug Vogt will be officiating.
