SEBASTIAN — First Saturday at LoPresti will start the year Jan. 7 with War Birds and Air Shows. Come meet Captain Chris Avery of the Commemorative Air Force and see his beautiful Corsair Aircraft.
Capt. Avery will show off one of the Corsair aircraft that he flies and you will learn first-hand about the history of the Commemorative Air Force. Capt. Avery will entertain and enlighten you with great stories of flying in air shows.
Charity Breakfast will benefit Operation Hope Fellsmere. $8 donation.
Breakfast begins at 9 a.m., with program from 10 to 11:30 a.m.
Operation Hope Fellsmere is one of our favorite charities. Operation Hope goes directly to the heart of what families-in-need need – food for their tables, a safe education for their children and hope that 2012 will be a better year.
Operation Hope feeds more than 15,000 people out of their headquarters in Fellsmere, Florida. That is a lot of people, but there just never seems to be enough for all the families in need. Operation Hope Fellsmere has a very low overhead. Every dime of every donation is used wisely. There are no high salaries, no extravagant expenses here.
Operation Hope has been helping families in need with groceries every Saturday night at 6pm for many years with food which is sponsored by lots of sources such as food banks in Orlando, Food bank in Melbourne, Daily Bread, food ministries in Titusville Florida, food bank in Ft. Pierce, US Post Office, food drive with Wal-mart, and with Boy Scouts, Churches, Publix, Pepsi, private donors etc. With donations received from the public and revenue from our thrift store we also purchase food at the food bank for .18 cents per pound maximizing your donations value.
On Saturday for our food distribution we have people come from Melbourne, Sebastian, Palm Bay, Vero Beach, and of course Fellsmere. It is amazing to see so many people from so many nations; this is the best part because we meet people from different religions, race, etc. Our volunteers enjoy being here every week to help serve our community.
