VERO BEACH — On Friday, Nov. 11 Vero Beach’s Veterans Memorial Island Sanctuary will again host the annual celebration of Veterans Day. The program will begin at 9 a.m., with guest speaker John Darling, a Vietnam veteran who has been a resident of Vero Beach since 1973.
Darling was wounded in action during the Tet Offensive of 1968 and was awarded the Purple Heart among his other awards. He has a compelling story.
Each year, the event celebrates the over 18,000 veterans who reside in our county and each year the event has attracted more people. Organizers anticipate between 2,500 and 3,000 will attend this year’s event.
Due to the construction of the Museum, we anticipate a parking problem, so we recommend arriving earlier than in past years. Since seating is limited, please bring chairs and umbrellas.
