European Doorways exhibit features works by Judy Burgarella

VERO BEACH — The Artists Guild Gallery proudly presents the exhibit, European Doorways, paintings by award-winning gallery member Judy Burgarella, on display through the month of October. An opening reception will be held Friday Oct. 7 from 5 to 8p.m., coinciding with the 3D District’s Gallery Stroll along 14th Avenue.

Burgarella has studied with Christopher Chang, Charles Gruppe, Karen Massengill and Dorothy Starbuck, among other renowned artists. She has earned many awards for her paintings, and her work resides in collections around the world, and she has exhibited in numerous galleries and exhibit venues in both Florida and Connecticut her former home state.

Aside from her owner/member status at the Artists Guild Gallery, she holds memberships in the Vero Beach Art Club, Sebastian River Art Club, Cultural Council of Indian River County, Vero Beach Museum of Art, and the Clinton Art Society in Connecticut.

Burgarella is a student of light and shadow, always studying its effects on the color of inanimate objects and in the natural world. Sharing her love of art through teaching is one of her missions, and spreading the joy of painting is her passion. “Art,” says Burgarella, “is my drug of choice – it satisfies me, soothes me, and makes me happy; that is why I am driven to share it with others.”

She is currently one of three artist/volunteers who are creating a 36′ mural for the City, depicting six of the habitats of Vero Beach, sponsored by the Vero Beach Art club, and slated to be completed in late fall. For more information on the mural, visit www.verobeachmural.blogspot.com.

New works by other Gallery Artists and Consignors will also be on display in a vast array of styles and mediums, including sculpture, ceramics, jewelry, pottery, glass and prints. The largest and most diverse gallery in Vero Beach, it is located at 1974 14th Avenue. Hours are Monday through Friday 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., and by special appointment.

VERO BEACH — Nostalgia and the smell of Dodger Dogs swept through the stands of Holman Stadium during Historic Dodgertown’s first Jackie Robinson Day Celebration Game.
