Carol M. Smith, 76, died Sept. 16, 2011, at Indian River Medical Center, Vero Beach.
She was born in Elkview, W.Va., and lived in Vero Beach for 52 years, coming from Charleston, W.Va.
Survivors include her sons, Michael L. Patton and Claris Patton, both of Vero Beach; daughter, Pennie Thornton, of Vero Beach; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be at a later date.
Arrangements are by Strunk Funeral Home and Crematory Vero Beach.
