I’m a lean, mean, two-fisted punching machine – YEAH! Notice how I mentioned “two-fisted.” That’s key.
Under normal workout conditions – doing an upper body workout involving punches, you’d expect to use both fists. Same is true the electronic way – and false at the same time.
I’ve found that no matter how many times my “trainer” tells me it’s important to work both sides evenly – I don’t get an even workout when punching.
Why??
Because I have to hold the Wii controller in one hand. There’s no instructions to grab another controller or something else for your other hand to get that “even” workout.
For all intents and purposes I’m left-handed – it’s the hand I use to write with, and apparently the way I tie my shoes. But, with everything else – from chopping veggies to practicing bowling – I’m much stronger with my right.
That’s why, to me, it’s important to really work both sides evenly. My right arm is already much stronger than my left – so I need to work my left that much harder.
So what’s a girl to do?
Grab another Wii controller!
Now, whenever I have to do a series of punches during my workout, I have the same amount of weight in both hands and I can get the highly sought after “even” workout my trainer keeps telling me I need.
Such a relief!
*sigh*
