SEBASTIAN — VeroNews.com is celebrating its second anniversary and invites its readers to join the celebration with a party in Sebastian.
“We continue to be overwhelmed by the support and response we get from our readers,” said Online Editor Debbie Carson. “We want to give back by sharing this milestone with them.”
The anniversary party is set for Tuesday, Aug. 30, at 6:30 p.m. at Capt’n Butcher’s in Sebastian, located at 1732 Indian River Drive. Light refreshments will be available.
“We want to reach out and connect with our Sebastian and North County readers,” Carson said, adding that’s why VeroNews.com is holding its party there this year.
Those wishing to attend the anniversary party are encouraged to RSVP via the facebook event listing, by posting a comment below this article or by emailing [email protected].
For two years, VeroNews.com has brought readers news from around all of Indian River County and only Indian River County, filling an underserved news niche identified by owner and publisher Milton Benjamin.
Under Carson’s direction, the website relaunched on a new, more stable platform to better handle reader demand and streamline the site. The change has helped encourage more reader feedback and interaction through comments, community news submissions and calendar listings.
Through the efforts of Social Media Editor and Visual Journalist Keith Carson, VeroNews.com continues to bring fresh visuals and videos, including a weekly webcast summarizing the week’s news, to more readers, who find the site through twitter and facebook.
Colleagues Mary Schenkel, Lisa Zahner Tom McCarthy Jr., and Steven Thomas, from sister publication Vero Beach 32963, contribute regularly to VeroNews.com’s coverage, as do contributors Scott Bolieau and Michael Bielecki.
The website’s readership continues to grow as more people learn of the online news source through word-of-mouth and social media.
“We want to hear from you,” said Online Editor Debbie Carson. “Come out to the party and let us know what you think of our new design and how we’re doing, covering the community.”
