Don’t know about your hair-do, but my hair-do (which was pretty iffy to begin with) is now, officially, a hair-don’t. Wilted lettuce comes to mind.
After several minutes trying, in vain, to get it to do anything other than just hang there looking uckky, I decided to just “step away from the brush” and not look in the mirror for the time being. You know?
And to anyone who is still saying “It’s not the heat, it’s the humidity,” let me just say, “NO, it the HEAT!!!!”
In spite of all that, I’m not seriously complaining. We down here on the peninsula continue to dodge most of the weather bullets assailing the rest of the country.
Out back, in the broad expanse surrounding our new, almost completed, building – where there used to be dirt – there are now zillions of blades of actual grass, looking pretty robust what with the recent afternoon showers. It gives the area a whole new feel.
We are all getting pretty excited to move in and get on with all the great things we will now be better able do, with more elbow room.
We’ll be sharing the facility with some other non-profits for various projects and purposes, and our homeowners and homebuyers going through the program will have space to take the required classes.
One of my favorite aspects of working on the Habitat team is the community outreach aspect Habitat has – seeking to improve families’ lives as well as the community as a whole. With happy, stable, thriving families, the economy becomes more healthy, too. And the significant commitment to Reduce, Reuse and Recycle serves the environment.
Hey, if you’d like to help Habitat this summer, and don’t mind being a little (or a lot) hot and sweaty and maybe breaking a nail or two for a good cause, PLEASE join our summer volunteer crew.
We are in dire need of summer vols and, if you give Habitat 40 or more hours between now and end of September, you will earn a chance for some seriously cool prizes. Got your interest? Call our Vol Coordinator Jessica Schmitt 772-563-9860 x212.
Meanwhile, stay as cool as you can, definitely stay hydrated and. . . .
have a good one.
