Weekend Winners: Things to do in Indian River County

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY – It’s a weekend of art, theatre and charity with art exhibits and camps throughout the county, theatrical performances of “The Twits” at Riverside Children’s Theatre, and various charity events helping children and the homeless.

Ongoing

  • The Sebastian River Art Club presents exotic Chinese watercolor paintings by member Thelma Koopman through July at Inlet Wines in Sebastian. An opening reception and wine tasting will be held on Saturday from 4 to 7 p.m.
  • Vero Beach Museum of Art Summer Art Camp for children ages 4 to 16, offering a choice of 65 morning and afternoon classes in eight week-long sessions.
  • Photographic Art Exhibit “Our Natural World” to benefit the Environmental Learning Center at the Gallery of Hope.org in the Theatre Plaza building in Downtown Vero Beach.

Thursday

  • Mulligan’s Disney Character Party to benefit the Hope Center for Autism and Youth Guidance. From 5 – 8 p.m. kids eat free and 20 percent of proceeds are donated to charity.

Friday through Sunday

  • Riverside Children’s Theatre’s Summer Stage presents The Twits, Friday, Saturday and Sunday at 1:30 pm and Friday at 7:30 p.m. on the Waxlax Stage at Riverside Theatre.

Saturday

  • Farmer’s Market Oceanside, 8 a.m. to Noon at the corner of Ocean Drive and Dahlia Lane, across from Humiston Park in Vero Beach.
  • Book signing at Shells and Things on Ocean Drive, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. featuring local author Anne Devanney.
  • Oceanside Business Association Sunset Saturday Night Concert Series presents a Sea Turtle’s Tango with music by the Category 5 Band, 6:30 – 9:30 p.m. at Humiston Park on Ocean Drive. The featured charity is the Environmental Learning Center.

Sunday

  • Celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Homeless Family Center with Christmas in July, 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. featuring refreshments, bounce houses, games and surprises.
  • Tammy Paoletti headlines a Patsy Cline Tribute show, 3 p.m. at the Senior Resource Association’s Schumann Hall Senior Center.
  • Free Social Justice Film Series at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Vero Beach presents “Earth”, a spectacular photographic documentary from the BBC and Discovery Channel series Planet Earth, at 7 p.m.
