INDIAN RIVER COUNTY – A 16-year-old Vero Beach driver was killed after failing to stop for a red flashing light at the intersection of 58th Avenue and Oslo Road, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The teen, identified as Steven A. Erlanger, 16, of Vero Beach, was driving north on 58th Avenue approaching Oslo Road when he failed to stop for the red light. A driver heading west on Oslo, who had the yellow flashing light, collided with Erlanger.
Erlanger was driving a motorbike, according to the Florida Highway Patrol and was ejected from the 2006 Honda CR 100 he was driving.
He died on the scene, FHP said.
The other driver, identified as 46-year-old Clete J. Dotson, also of Vero Beach, sustained no injuries in the crash. He was driving a 2011 Nissan sedan.
