Main Street Vero Beach presents Sip of the City

VERO BEACH — Sip of the City is a new promotion from Main Street Vero Beach – a Summer Happy Hour Series that kicks off Friday, June 3 from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at the Greenhouse Café.

To go along with the Greenhouse Café’s theme of “A Taste of Brazil,” the featured drink of the evening will be a Mojito.  There will also be two for one drink specials and Brazilian appetizers will be available.

Main Street Vero Beach is promoting the Happy Hour Series as a way to introduce new people to Downtown Vero Beach and support member businesses during the summer season.  Sip of the City will move around Downtown Vero Beach and each participating venue will have themed food and drinks.

Low beach attendance for January; no water rescues

VERO BEACH — While chilly temperatures caused a drop in beach attendance last month, lifeguards are happy to report that there were no water rescues that occurred in January. Slight dip for July beach attendance compared to last year

VERO BEACH — Beachgoers are hitting the shores this summer all while practicing social distancing amid the coronavirus pandemic. The city's three guarded beaches had a slight dip in attendance numbers in July compared to last year, according to a Vero Beach Lifeguard Association report. Last month, 86,095 people flocked to Jaycee Park Beach, Humiston Park Beach and South Beach Park, lifeguards said. This number is less than the 86,686 beachgoers who hit the sand in July 2019. In July of 2018, the city set an attendance record when the beaches had 93,000 visitors, lifeguards said. Fertilizer restrictions to go into effect next month

A reminder from the Indian River Neighborhood Association to residents of Indian River County, City of Vero Beach, Sebastian and Orchid. We are coming into our rainy season when more nutrients such as nitrogen and phosphorous are likely to be washed from our lawns, driveways and roads into the storm water system and, ultimately, into our local waterways such as the Indian River Lagoon. The fertilizer ordinances passed by our communities goes into effect June 1st. It prohibits the use of lawn fertilizer between June 1st and September 30th.
