Downtown Vero Beach stores burglarized over night

VERO BEACH – Several Downtown Vero Beach businesses were burglarized over night. At least four businesses on 14th Avenue, 20th Street and the surrounding area were targeted.

How many thieves were involved was not immediately known, nor how much damage the thief – or thieves – caused.  

Vero Beach Police spokesman Officer John Morrison said detectives were working the scenes and hoped to release information sometime today.

Until then, he said at least four or five businesses had been hit but there could be more.

1 patient remains at hospital following deadly Jan. 15 crash

VERO BEACH — One patient - a student - remains hospitalized following a deadly two-vehicle wreck that killed 20-year-old rowing team member Grace Rett and injured several others last week, a hospital official said. The unidentified patient - a member of Holy Cross Crusaders women's rowing team - was listed in critical condition, said Tiffany Woods, public relations director for Lawnwood Regional Medical Center & Heart Institute in Fort Pierce.
