Joseph S. Gondek Jr., 75, died May 11, 2011, at Sebastian River Medical Center, Roseland.
He was born in Middletown, Conn., and lived in Sebastian, coming from Burlington, Conn.
He worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 32 years, 12 years as postmaster for Burlington and Unionville, Conn.
He was an Army veteran, serving for two years, and later spent 12 years in the Reserves.
He graduated from Salette Seminary in Hartford, Conn., and attended the University of Connecticut and Trinity College.
He was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus and a member of the Holy Name Society.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Teresa Gondek; sons, Joseph Gondek III, of Sparta, N.J., Stephen Gondek, of Tariffville, Conn., and Thomas Gondek, of Unionville; daughters, Teresa Kukesh, of Exeter, N.H., and Mary Kowalec, of Burlington; sisters, Theresa Gondek, Dorothy Gondek, Marie Gondek and Rose Machell; brother, Bob Gondek; and 13 grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. May 16 at Ahern Funeral Home, Hartford, with a funeral procession at 9:15 a.m. May 17 from the funeral home and a funeral liturgy at 10 a.m. at the Church of St. Mary Star of the Sea, Unionville, with full military honors after the Mass.
