Douglas R. Winslow, 53, Vero Beach

Douglas R. Winslow, 53, died May 6, 2011, at his home.

He was born in Rochester, N.Y., and lived on the Treasure Coast for 13 years, coming from North Port.

He worked for his family’s business, Winslow Property Management in Vero Beach.

Survivors include his brothers, John Winslow, of Vero Beach and Dan Winslow, of Conesus, N.Y.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald and May Lou.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Epilepsy Foundation of Florida, 3222 Commerce Place, Suite B, West Palm Beach, FL 33417.

Private family services will be at a later date.

Arrangements are by Cox-Gifford-Seawinds Funeral Home & Crematory, Vero Beach.

Fellsmere among towns impacted by Hurricane Irma to get infrastructure award

Fellsmere is among several Florida towns that will receive an infrastructure award that will go toward restoration and improvement projects following the damage left behind by the 2017 Hurricane Irma, state officials said Friday. Gov. issues state of emergency; beaches to close ahead of Isaias

Friday evening update: A hurricane warning and a storm surge watch were issued for Indian River County Friday afternoon. County officials will order voluntary evacuations for residents Saturday in mobile homes, low lying areas and on the barrier island. County officials will open three shelters at 2 p.m. Saturday.
