Angelo Joseph Lopes, 82, died at the VNA Hospice House on May 6, 2011, following a courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease.
He was born in New York City, raised his family in New Jersey and retired to Vero Beach where he lived for the last 25 years. Lopes served in the U.S. Army 82nd Airborne Division and was a veteran of the Korean War before making a career for himself as a Sheet Metal Mechanic/Local Union 28 NYC for 25 years.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Evelyn Lopes; sons Gary (Michele) Lopes, Wayne (Sylvie) Lopes, and Craig (Cynthia) Lopes; daughters Keri (Bob) Chettum and Amy (John) Serovich; grandchildren Kara, Jared, Cayla, Haley, Corey Lopes, Jillian and Trevor Lopes, Alissa, Brielle, and John Christian Serovich.
He was predeceased by his granddaughter Megan Alissa Lopes.
Lopes will also be dearly missed by his extended family.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 12 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Vero Beach.
