Register now for Florida Library Youth Program

SEBASTIAN — “One World, Many Stories” is the theme for the 2011 Florida Library Youth Program and a full schedule of children’s programming has been planned at the North Indian River County Library.

Registration begins Monday, May 9 in person at the Children’s service desk, by telephone at (772) 589-1355, extension 4523, or at www.sebastianlibrary.com/childrens. The programs, which are free of charge, run from Friday, June 17 through Friday, August 5.  Brochures describing each program and event are available in the Library.

Story Timers Explorers, ages three to five, will meet on Mondays from 10:15 to 11:15 a.m.  Toddler Tourists, ages one to two, will meet on Tuesdays from 10:15 to 11 a.m.

Global Babies, ages birth to two years, will meet from 11:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Tuesday.  Twilight Travelers, ages 5-11 will meet on Tuesday evenings, 6:15 to 7:30 p.m.

World Travelers, ages 5-11, will meet on Wednesdays or Thursdays, 10:15 a.m. to 12 p.m.  Children in all of these programs will enjoy stories, crafts, music and refreshments.

Special Event Fridays will begin on June 17, 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., with Fred Mazza, the “Fossil Guy” brining artifacts to see and touch.

Other presenters this summer will be folksinger Kate Carpenter, Steve Knight’s and his Nifty Puppets, Cesar Domico and his magic show, Tampa Taiko Japanese Drumming, H.A.L.O. Rescue, Indian dancer Cody Sawgrass, and Save the Chimps Sanctuary.

Free tickets for all Special Event Fridays are available two weeks prior to each performance and are required for admission to Special Event Fridays.

All of these programs are sponsored by the Friends of the North Indian River County Library.  The Library is located at 1001 Sebastian Boulevard in Sebastian.
