Bobbie Dell Smith, 69, Vero Beach

Bobbie Dell Smith, 69, died April 23, 2011, in Vero Beach.

He was born in Caledonia, Miss., and moved to Vero Beach in 1952, coming from his birthplace. Survivors include his wife, Patricia Smith, of Vero Beach; sons, Anthony Mills, of Vero Beach and Terrance Welch, of Cocoa; daughters, Barbara Riley, Willie Dean Smith and Jacqueline Smith, all of Vero Beach; sisters, Edder Sue Commers, of Russellville, Ala., and Roxie Cross, of Vero Beach; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. April 29 at Hortense/Mills Funeral Home in Vero Beach.

The funeral will be at 3 p.m. April 30 at Humble Church of God in Vero Beach.

Burial will follow at Gifford Cemetery.

2 wounded in late Monday shooting; deputies investigating

GIFFORD — Two people suffered non-life threatening injuries following a double shooting late Monday, Indian River County sheriff's deputies reported. It was the second reported shooting to take place in Indian River County over the Labor Day weekend. Both incidents are not connected, sheriff's spokesperson Sgt. Kevin Jaworski said. Details on the motive in Monday's shooting were not immediately available. Man killed in overnight shooting in Gifford

GIFFORD — A man in his early 20s was killed after being struck by gunfire overnight, authorities said. Indian River County sheriff's officials said there was no known danger to the public but are investigating the case as a homicide. "Currently, detectives are working all leads," sheriff's officials said in a statement. "There is no suspect information that can be presently shared."
