SEBASTIAN — Youth Guidance will be the beneficiary of the LoPresti First Saturday event held on April 2 starting at 9 a m. This monthly breakfast takes place at the Sebastian Airport, 210 Airport Drive East, in Sebastian. Admission is only $8.00 and the public is welcome.
LoPresti Aviation founder, Roy LoPresti, wanted a place for pilots and the community, especially kids, to meet and ‘hang out’. LoPresti did his best to get the youth more involved in aviation and to share the dream of flight.
The First Saturday started over five years ago to bring pilots and the locals together with a full breakfast, an interesting topic and a guest speaker. Presenter Jerry Trachtman, a pilot and lawyer, will offer humor and valuable knowledge on how pilots navigate through the FAA maze of roadblocks.
Youth Guidance will give a brief presentation, have an information table and answer any questions on how the public can get involved in the program. A 50/50 raffle will add to the day’s activities with all proceeds donated to Youth Guidance.
Individuals will be arriving by plane and by car for this monthly get-together.
The primary purpose of Youth Guidance is to match each of its nearly 700 at-risk K-12 grade children with a volunteer mentor 21 years or older. Mentors spend just a few hours a week with their mentee doing friendship based activities that they both enjoy.
