Vito Raymond, 92, Vero Beach

Vito Raymond, 92, died March 14, 2011.

He was born in Scranton, Pa., and lived in Vero Beach since 1991.

He was employed by Sikorsky Aircraft where he helped in the development of the helicopter.

Later, he became president of Raymond Construction, completing many commercial projects throughout the Scranton area.

He also owned and operated Dunmore Lumber, Penmore Home & Auto and Lake Benton Peat Moss Co.

He also owned Jasmine boutique in Vero Beach.

He was a test pilot in the Navy during World War II.

He was a graduate of the School of Architecture at Pratt Institute in New York City.

He served as exalted ruler of the Elks Association and was president of the Scranton Chapter of United Cerebral Palsy and chairman of the Civil Service Commission of Scranton.

Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Gina; sons, Gerald, of Pennsylvania, Richard, of New York and Vito Jr., of Florida; daughter, Deborah Reagan, of California; and sister, Catherine Siekierka, of Florida.

He was preceded in death by his sisters, Mina and Margaret, both of Pennsylvania.

Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. March 18 at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Vero Beach, with a Mass of Christian burial immediately following at 2 p.m. at the church.
