VERO BEACH — The Vero Beach Museum of Art will present its 30th annual Children’s Art Festival on Saturday, April 30 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. throughout the Museum. The festival offers young people and their families an admission-free cultural event that celebrates the creativity and diversity of young people in the community. This year, a very special addition to the day’s festivities will be free professional performances for all ages of “Jack and the Beanstalk” presented by master puppeteer Jerry Bickel and his talented crew from Bits and Pieces PuppetWorld, Tampa, Florida. The classic tale will be brought to life with a cast of delightful puppets, Celtic music, and scenery with performances at 11 a.m., 12:30 p.m., and 2:15 p.m. in the Museum’s Leonhardt Auditorium.
For over 35 years, Tampa’s Bits and Pieces PuppetWorld has been dedicated to influencing the world of tomorrow by enchanting the children of today. Known for their original, contemporary adaptations of classic children’s literature, Bits and Pieces puppet shows are produced in the style of the great American musical and are not to be missed.
Art festival visitors will also be treated to youth entertainment, school performances, K-5 school art displays, plenty of free art activities, including puppet-making, in the Museum Art School studio classrooms for youth and their families, and much more.
All attendees enjoy free admission to all Museum art exhibitions including American Masterworks: 150 Years of Painting from the Butler Institute of American Art; Impressions: Selections from the Manoogian Collection; Vero Promises; Sculpture from the Permanent Collection in the Alice and Jim Beckwith Sculpture Park; and the opening day of the Indian River County Juried Student Exhibition.
