Joan F. Perrigo, 75, of Vero Beach, died Sunday, Feb. 6, 2011, in the VNA Hospice House, Vero Beach.
She was born March 19, 1935, in Elkhorn, Wis., the daughter of William H. and Marion (Kelly) Freytag.
Perrigo grew up in Williams Bay, Wis., on Lake Geneva and graduated from Williams Bay High School before attending the University of Wisconsin Madison where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Applied Arts.
Perrigo was a member of the Delta Gamma Sorority.
She was a member of the Lake Geneva Yacht Club, Beloit Country Club, and the First Congregational Church.
Perrigo was a volunteer at the Beloit Public Library before moving to Vero Beach in 1986.
Perrigo volunteered at the Indian River Medical Center in the Stork Club for 12 years, accumulating 1,625 hours as a dedicated “Storker.”
She was also a member of the Vero Beach Yacht Club and Power Squadron.
Her friends and family will remember Perrigo as a strong willed, carefree, and fun loving women who will be greatly missed.
Survivors include her husband of 53 years, John M. Perrigo; children, Sandra (Ted) Halbach, of Madison, Wis., Jeffery (Linda) Perrigo, of Beloit, Wis., Scott (Brigid) Perrigo, of Whitefish Bay, Wis., and Todd (Heidi) Perrigo, of Sarasota; eight grandchildren; brothers, William H. Freytag, of Lake Geneva, Wis., and James E. Freytag, of Palm Coast, and sister- in-law, Sally E. Perrigo, of South Beloit, Ill.
The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at University of Little Rock Hospital, the Indian River Medical Center and the VNA Hospice for their care given to Perrigo.
She was predeceased by her parents.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 11, 2011, in the First Congregational Church, 801 Bushnell Street, Beloit, Wis., with Reverend Kendell Nordstrom officiating.
Burial will be in East Lawn Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of service Friday in the church.
