School Board to consider approving $10.8 million for projects at schools

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY – The Indian River County School Board is expected to consider approving construction and renovation projects at  two schools at its meeting tonight.

The projects include an $8 million Freshman Learning Center at Sebastian River High and a $2.8 million replacement of the heating, ventilation and air conditioning system at Dodgertown Elementary.

Proctor Construction Company is the firm that is expected to perform the work at Sebastian River High, once the district and the company negotiate a maximum price for the project.

Donadio and Associates Architects is the architect/engineering firm on record.

The new Freshman Learning Center will have 19 classrooms and four science labs.

Also on the agenda for the School Board meeting Tuesday evening is a proposed $2.78 million replacement of Dodgertown Elementary’s heating and A/C system.

That project was originally approved in November and, in the meantime, district staff have selected Summit Construction Management and have negotiated a guaranteed maximum price for the work.

This new system is expected to include mechanical equipment for the chiller plant, including a water-cooled chiller, a chilled water pump, a glycol water pump, a condenser water pump, and a thermal energy storage system with a glycol management system, according to School District documents.
