VERO BEACH — On Monday, February 14 at 5 p.m., McKee Botanical Garden will open its gates for its annual Valentine’s Day Dinner & Garden Stroll. This unique evening offers the opportunity to dine in the Garden by twilight, followed by a stroll down luminaria-lined pathways. Dinner will be catered by Elizabeth D. Kennedy & Co., operators of the on-site Garden Café. The cost is $75 per person and reservations are required.
“Elizabeth Kennedy is one of the area’s most sought-after caterers and party planners,” explained McKee Executive Director Christine Hobart. “We are thrilled to offer one of her signature menus this Valentine’s Day, as well as a romantic garden atmosphere that cannot be matched.”
The menu for the Valentine’s Day Dinner & Garden Stroll includes a plated salad of watermelon radish, goat cheese and mesclun greens topped with a mustard tarragon vinaigrette; a main course buffet of poached salmon with cucumber dill sauce, sliced filet with horseradish, salad of red bliss potatoes with fennel and dill, and haricots verts with shallot and caper vinaigrette; assorted dinner breads; and, for dessert, a double chocolate blackout cake, served with peppermint ice cream, hot fudge sauce and peppermint crumbles. Beverages include decaf coffee and tea. Wine will not be served, but there is no cork fee for guests who wish to bring their own.
Diners may arrive any time between 5 and 6 p.m. for open seating. Groups are welcome.
The Garden also will offer general admission to the public from 6 – 8 p.m. on Valentine’s Day for those who only wish to partake in the Garden stroll. Reservations are required for dinner, but not for the stroll.
