Mary Anne Overbeck, 50, Vero Beach

Mary Anne Overbeck, 50, died Sunday, Dec. 19, 2010, at her home in Vero Beach.

She was born in Summit, N.J. on June 13, 1960, and lived in Cohasset, Mass., prior to moving to Vero Beach in 1970. Overbeck was a graduate of Vero Beach High School.

She was a deputy with the Indian River Sheriff’s Department for 17 years, serving as a school resource officer for Gifford Middle School and an emergency dispatcher.

Survivors include her three sons, Donald Anglin, Charles “Chad” Anglin, and Kevan Anglin, all of Vero Beach; mother, Mary B. Overbeck and two grandsons, all of Vero Beach; sister, Elizabeth Balkite and brother, Roy Overbeck, of Durham, N.C.

A memorial service officiated by Reverend Paul Mace of Grace Life church will be held for all friends and family at 11 am, Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2010, at Thomas S. Lowther Funeral Home & Crematory, Vero Beach.

‘Tragic, sudden loss,’ – Memorials emerge for teen killed in ATV crash

With the sudden death of Sebastian River High School student Jake Beecher still fresh, family, friends, teammates and coaches continue to come to terms with the tragic crash that took his life. Man shot after charging at deputy with small sword

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — A 29-year-old man who was shot by a deputy after charging at the officer with a small sword, was hospitalized late Friday, officials said. The unidentified man was taken by ambulance to Lawnwood Regional Medical Center & Heart Institute in Fort Pierce, Indian River County sheriff's spokesman Maj. Eric Flowers said. The deputy who fired the shot was not injured. The deputy was placed on paid administrative leave, which is protocol for police-involved shootings.
