Border Patrol catches man wanted in Oslo Road center stabbing

PROGRESO, TEXAS – Border Patrol in Texas has arrested the man Indian River County Sheriff’s deputies say stabbed a woman last month.

The Indian River County Sheriff’s Office announced Wednesday that the US Border Patrol apprehended Miguel Gonzalez Campos Tuesday when he attempted to cross the border into Mexico. According to authorities, the Border Patrol agent ran Gonzalez Campos’s fingerprints at the border and found a warrant issued for attempted murder.

He was taken into custody.

During questioning, Gonzalez Campos told authorities that he had fled to Miami where he took a bus to Progreso, Texas, and checked into a hotel before attempting to cross the border.

Gonzalez Campos is expected to be transported back to Indian River County where he faces an attempted murder charge.

The Indian River County Sheriff’s Office has accused of Gonzalez Campos of stabbing a woman in the parking lot of an Oslo Road shopping center.
