Dodgertown Elementary in line for new $2.7 million heating, A/C system

GIFFORD — Dodgertown Elementary School could be one step closer to receiving a new heating and air conditioning system campus wide.

The Indian River County School Board is expected to discuss the potential $2.75 million project at the regular business meeting today at 6 p.m. The School District’s Facilities Department made the request for the project and sent out notices to more than 100 businesses that could have potentially performed the job.

That list has since been culled to four and ranked as follows:

Summit Construction Management, Inc.

Proctor Construction, Inc.

Pirtle Construction / Pinnacle Construction of the Treasure Coast

Williams Company

The Facilities Department, with Superintendent Dr. Harry La Cava’s support, will be asking the School Board tonight to proceed with negotiations with Summit Construction Management Inc.

The district expects to negotiate a guaranteed maximum price for the work to be done at Dodgertown Elementary.

Under the district’s 5-year capital outlay budget, there is $2.75 million set aside for the work.
