VERO BEACH – A man authorities say robbed the TD Bank on State Road 60 in Vero Beach has been arrested.
The Vero Beach Police Department, with help from the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office arrested Tyron T. Roberts, 43, of Melbourne.
According to the police department, Roberts entered the banker, formerly Riverside Bank, around 10 a.m. Friday and implied that he had a weapon.
A bank teller complied with Roberts’ demand for money and he left the bank.
Authorities responded and followed a vehicle suspected to be involved stop in front of a packing house on Old Dixie Highway. They observed a male fitting the suspect’s description exit the vehicle and run through the packing house’s property.
Detective Finnegan and Deputy Smith apprehended the suspect on foot and placed him under arrest. During the foot pursuit the suspect dropped a handgun, which was recovered.
Authorities detained a 42-year-old woman who was driving the vehicle. She has since been released without criminal charges.
During an interview with the Vero Beach Police Department, Roberts admitted to being involved in the robbery, according to the police department.
Roberts faces charges that include robbery with a firearm, battery on a law enforcement officer, and false imprisonment, according to Vero Beach police.
