Youth Guidance children unite with CVS and Disney Resort volunteers

VERO BEACH — The United Way Day of Caring brought together Youth Guidance children with CVS volunteers for the beach clean-up on Saturday, October 2, at the Disney Resort.  The kids participated in outdoor and indoor activities ranging from cleaning the beach and playing volleyball to making sun visors and painting wooden sea turtles.

The United Way Day of Caring is a national event put on every year by over 1300 United Ways around the country; it unites businesses with non-profits to complete one day projects.  The CVS Distribution Center and the Disney Resort supplied over 40 volunteers to work one-on-one with the Youth Guidance kids.

The day started with a healthy breakfast while the children made sun visors to wear when they scoured the beach.  During the beach cleaning, they learned about the sea turtles and their egg-laying habits.  The day continued with the kids painting wooden sea turtles supplied by the Disney Resort, showcasing their artistic talents.  All of the volunteers were very hands-on and interacted with the children a lot.  The event culminated with a picnic and games of volleyball and soccer.  Thanks to the continued support of community members and businesses Youth Guidance youngsters are able to experience and enjoy many terrific activities on a regular basis.
