Art in the Park begins again on Oct. 31

VERO BEACH — Art in the Park, an outdoor art exhibit held by the Vero Beach Art Club members takes place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. along beautiful Ocean Drive at Humiston Park.  A series of eleven art shows will be held on Sundays throughout the Winter/Spring season by the Members of the Vero Beach Art Club.

Between 25 and 30 artists display and sell a variety of artwork, including paintings, jewelry, pottery and more at these beautiful outdoor art shows along Ocean Drive.  Newly refurbished Humiston Park promenade makes for a perfect setting for this walk along art stroll with cooling ocean breezes and lots of places to sit and rest and enjoy the view.

Low beach attendance for January; no water rescues

VERO BEACH — While chilly temperatures caused a drop in beach attendance last month, lifeguards are happy to report that there were no water rescues that occurred in January. "It's a great thing," Vero Beach Lifeguard Association officials said in a statement. "We hope people are paying attention to lifeguards and condition signs before they go into the water." Fertilizer restrictions to go into effect next month

A reminder from the Indian River Neighborhood Association to residents of Indian River County, City of Vero Beach, Sebastian and Orchid. We are coming into our rainy season when more nutrients such as nitrogen and phosphorous are likely to be washed from our lawns, driveways and roads into the storm water system and, ultimately, into our local waterways such as the Indian River Lagoon. The fertilizer ordinances passed by our communities goes into effect June 1st. It prohibits the use of lawn fertilizer between June 1st and September 30th. ‘No swimming’ advisory lifted for beaches, officials say

VERO BEACH — Authorities lifted a 'no swimming' advisory for three local beaches Tuesday after test samples showed that bacteria returned to normal levels, health department and city officials said. The result means it was safe to return to the water Tuesday, Vero Beach city officials said. The advisory - which was in place for nearly a week - was issued Jan. 31 for South Beach, Humiston Beach and Sexton Plaza Beach after high levels of fecal-related bacteria were reported at the locations.
