Catherine Ellen “Katie” Bowen, 91, Vero Beach

Catherine Ellen “Katie” Bowen, 91, died Oct. 5, 2010 at River View Health and Rehab, Savannah, Ga.

Bowen was born in Toledo, Ohio and lived in Vero Beach for 38 years, coming from Springfield, Ohio. She was a member of Central Assembly of God, Vero Beach.

Survivors include her great-niece, Nancy Schnell, of Pooler, Ga; niece Loretta Speirs, of Ft. Pierce; nephews, Orion and David Rose, of Springfield, Ohio; four grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.

Bowen was preceded in death by her husband, Elwood Bowen, and a son, Jack Bowen.

Visitation will be Noon – 1 p.m. on Oct. 12 at Strunk Funeral Home, Vero Beach.

A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. on Oct. 12 at the funeral home with Rev. Larry Boan of Central Assembly of God, Vero Beach officiating.

Interment will follow in Hilllcrest Memorial Gardens, Ft. Pierce.

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — Frank Strahorn was already considered a hero by his family, friends and marine brothers and sisters because of his military service around the world.
