Hooligans, Scamps & Rascals in the Family

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — “Hooligans, Scamps & Rascals in the Family” is the title of the program for the Indian River Genealogical Society’s (IRGS) first meeting of the new season.  A panel of five members will reveal tales about the black sheep in their families.

The IRGS will meet Tuesday, Sept. 14, at 9:30 a.m. in the large first floor conference room of the Indian River County Main Library.  Refreshments will follow a short business session, and the program will begin about 10:30 a.m.

Upon learning of his family’s secrets, former President Jimmy Carter said, “We’ve uncovered some embarrassing ancestors in the not-so-distant past.  Some horse thieves and some people killed on Saturday nights.  One of my relatives, unfortunately, was even in the newspaper business.”

Members and guests are invited to share their own stories, uncovered during their research.

The meeting and program are free and open to the public.
