Ivan C. Smith, 91, of Vero Beach, died Saturday, Aug. 21, 2010 at the Indian River Medical Center.
Smith was born April 20, 1919 in Huntington, W. Va., and moved to Vero Beach in 1987 from Belpre, Ohio. He was in the insurance business prior to owning and operating Belpre TV and Appliance Store and then went on to become the Mayor of Belpre. He was a member of the First Christian Church of Vero Beach and a Mason and a Shriner.
Survivors include her wife, Adeline Smith, of Vero Beach; children, Warren Smith, of Huntington, W. Va., Patty Bowen, of Huntington, W. Va., Michael Smith, of Columbus, Ohio, Paula Fox, of Richmond, Va, Deborah Wason, of Waterford, Mich., William Wason, of Richmond, Ky., Kenneth Wason, of Camp Meaker, Ca., Cheryl Wason, of Eagan, Minn., Patty Raeker, of North Minneapolis, Minn., and Charles Shockey, of Oglesby, Ill., 11 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at the First Christian Church of Vero Beach at a later date.
