Meet Cheryl Conley, 2011 Florida Teacher of the Year

VERO BEACH — The Education Foundation of Indian River County and PNC Bank invite the public to meet Cheryl Conley, recently named the 2011 Florida Department of Education/Macy’s Teacher of the Year.  A meet and greet will take place from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, August 18 at PNC Bank’s Miracle Mile branch, 655 21st Street in Vero Beach.

Florida Commissioner of Education, Dr. Eric J. Smith, announced on July 9, 2010 that Cheryl Conley, a fourth grade General Education Teacher at Osceola Magnet Elementary School in Indian River County, was selected as the 2011 Florida Department of Education Teacher of the Year.  Mrs. Conley, a resident of Vero Beach, received the honor for her tremendous dedication to her students, her goal-oriented teaching style and her proven ability to inspire them beyond their own expectations. “Energy, commitment, talent, and innovation are but a few of the many defining characteristics of Florida’s newest Teacher of the Year, Cheryl Conley,” said Dr. Smith. “Cheryl’s service will prove to be an incredible source of inspiration for our hard working teachers as she travels the state and shares her accomplishments and experiences with her peers.”

The Education Foundation and PNC Bank encourage all students, parents, teachers, administrators and supporters to stop by to meet Mrs. Conley.  Light refreshments from Baci and Orchid Island Juice Company will be featured, as well as, performances by student groups.

“PNC recognizes the importance of quality education, especially in a child’s early years, for long-term success, so we’re pleased to host Cheryl as she receives accolades from the community for her outstanding efforts in the classroom,” said Tina Nicholson, manager of PNC Bank’s Miracle Mile branch.
