UPDATE: Westbound SR 60 reopens after crash

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — The two westbound lanes of State Road 60 near 74th Avenue have been reopened following a crash Thursday afternoon.

Emergency personnel had closed the lanes to work a two-vehicle crash scene. Deputies had routed vehicles through the barricaded construction area to alleviate the traffic snarl.

According to Capt. Don Smith, of the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office, an elderly woman was trapped in her vehicle after running into the rear of a tractor-trailer truck.

The woman was conscious, Capt. Smith said, though her condition remains unknown.

He said witnesses on scene reported the woman was driving erratically prior to crashing into the truck.

The condition of the truck’s driver was unknown.
